The case began gaining attention when a government pre-university college of udupi in karnataka barred six girls from attending classes for wearing hijab, as their dress was against the school's rules and regulations and then that ban spread to some other colleges/schools as well, Between all that their is some viral videos shown where students pleading to let them join school, they claimed till yesterday they were welcome and now suddenly, no entry! And school administration says that girls violated school uniform code.
So basically their is leagal and political angle in this case. Legally, ARTICLE 25(1) OF THE CONSTITUTION GUARANTEES THE "FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE AND THE RIGHT FREELY TO PROFESS, PRACTISE AND PROPAGATE RELIGION". But their is some reasonable restrictions that the public order morality and health are not compromised in the process. So unfortunately here legal angle is being used for political gains, And as per the karnataka HC "Constitution that gives a person fundamental rights including practise of religion, the same Constitution empowers the educational institutes for functioning, rules & regulations"
If we are projecting this case as choice so this is the example "How the taking one step backward, and being pushed several steps backward has began"
Today in 21st century India we're witnessing a situation where posters of "Pahle hijab fir kitaab" Have come up. Is this what should be setting up an example for women in progressive India? If we're going to put it as choice so people genuinely think that maybe the country need to start having a discussion about where we really stand and how we're going to go forward into the next decade when it comes to women rights and their education.
Schools are for education and uniform maintain a discipline also gives a sense of equality among students, and religious matters should not be taken their, Schools are institutions where there is a dress code to bring uniformity and equality among individuals.Wearing hijabs would distinguish students on the basis of religion in the institutions. And since we all in support of hindu-muslim unity I don't see the reason of chaos. Only reason that i can see is a 'mudda' ahead of key Distraction.
But now this type of segregation at school and colleges, that students against students, I think we're giving a tough competition to the Britishers "Divide and rule" Policy.
Yes, nicely pen down the facts which needed attention to be focused through out the country..
